comprehensive on-line date base of 100s of sustainble development events, organisations,

stories plus links to a growing number of environment and development news services around the world.
Commission on Globalisation Since 2001, EDRC has been assisting the State of the World Forum with the establishment and development of the State of the World Forum - Europe which works to support the Commission on Globalisation.
Institute for Environmental Security EDRC is a founding partner of this newly established think-tank headquarted in The Hague with liaison offices in Brussels and Washington, D.C. The Institute's mission is to advance global environmental security by promoting the maintenance of the regenerative capacity of the life-supporting eco-systems. Its work programme - HORIZON 21 - is a multidisciplinary approach integrating the fields of diplomacy, law, finance and education.
NGO 2002 Assesment of the Global Environment Facility Some 400 NGOs in 100 countries are being consulted in a project assisted by EDRC to evalutate the role of NGOs in GEF's policy making, programmes and projects.
Transatlantic Information Exchange Service (TIES) EDRC's Director, Ronald A. Kingham, serves as
Chief of the Environment Section of TIES - the transatlantic portal for civil society.
Recent EDRC Activities
European Rio+10 Coalition During 2000-2001 EDRC helped to establish and co-ordinate this network and its "Europe in the World" Contact Group preparing for Europe's role in the World Summit on Sustainable Development. EDRC also assisted in the organisation of the 1st and 2nd European Rio+10 Conferences in Brussels in June 2000 and May 2001. Transatlantic Dialogue on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development During 2000-2001, EDRC organised 2 multi-stakeholder transatlantic workshops on sustainable and multi-functional agriculture at the Luso American Development Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal. Details are available on the website of European Partners for the Enviornment.
In 2000, EDRC assisted for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Consortium for North-South Dialogue on Climate Change in the development and implementation of a survey and data system for the study: Who Needs What to Implement the Kyoto Protocol? An Assessment of Capacity Building Needs in 33 Developing Countries.
Transatlantic Environment Dialogue (TAED) From end-1998 through mid-2000, EDRC's Director,
Ronald A. Kingham, served as European Co-ordinator for the TAED based at the European
Environmental Bureau. This included the organisation of 1st and 3rd TAED conferences in Brussels
in 1999 and 2000 and the establishment of the TAED website in co-opeation with TIES.
Counterpart Europe In 2000-2001, EDRC provided assistance in the development of the European branch of Counterpart International including help in the organisation of "Contraction & Convergence: From Idea to Deal" at the COP6 Climate Conference, The Hague, November 2000.
