Climate Security Challenges for NATO

17 September 2020 - NATO-HQ - Brussels

The 12th meeting of the Brussels Dialogue on Climate Diplomacy (BDCD) will be held on Thursday, 17 September 2020 and hosted by NATO (Policy Planning Unit, Office of the Secretary General). The meeting will primarily be an on-line event.

This closed door session is being organised in the context of NATO 2030 – the forward looking reflection on the political dimension of NATO. It will be part of a series of consultative dialogues with civil society to inform the NATO Secretary General to prepare recommendations to NATO Heads of State and Government ahead of their next meeting in 2021.

Specifically, the aim of this session is to hear from civil society and other key stakeholders how they see NATO’s role in mitigation of climate change and adaptation to climate security challenges. Ideas and suggestions can feed into both the reflection on NATO 2030 and the ongoing conversation within NATO on developing a coherent approach to climate issues.

Participation in the meetings of the BDCD is by invitation only. For further information: Contact Us.
